The National Shoot to Retrieve Association (NSTRA) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1978 in the USA, by a group of dedicated bird hunters looking for a way to extend the upland bird season and provide service to its members. NSTRA Field Trials provide competition with others who enjoy bird dogs, in a sportsmanlike environment under hunting conditions.
The Southern Ontario Region of NSTRA began in 2020. We are a group of passionate sporting dog folks who live in Southern Ontario, and love to upland bird hunt with our pointing breeds.
While NSTRA is a field trial competition, it is closely simulated to a typical, real-life, hunting environment. While working with your dog to improve your NSTRA scores, you are working to improve their upland bird hunting skills at the same time. In fact, an excellent NSTRA dog, is an excellent field hunting dog!
By joining NSTRA, you’ll enjoy the comradery of fellow dog owners and learn a great deal and make great friendships in the process. We invite anyone interested in seeing what NSTRA is all about to come on out and join us anytime, we welcome everyone!
To get an idea of what a NSTRA trial is like, here’s a couple of videos taken by NSTRA members in the USA of actual NSTRA trials.
